The building of the San José- Caldera Highway

The Government recently began the completion of the new San José- Caldera highway. It will reduce the trip from San José to the Central Pacific Coast by at least a half an hour.

  1. Government and corporations expect to initiate the construction on the next summer.
  2. The ride to Central Pacific will be reduced by a min 30 minutes; the toll fee will be of $2,70.
The advantages.

The highway is 77 km from Parque La Sabana to Caldera, and can be traveled in one hour and 10 minutes.

The project includes the improvement of two of the sections that form the highway, and the construction of the third one.

Sections

  1. San José- Ciudad Colón: improvement of the 14,2 km section
  2. Ciudad Colón- Orotina: construction of the 38,8 km, 3 lane highway
  3. Orotina- Caldera: improvement of the 14,2 km section

In comparison with the Aguacate Mount, the new highway will be 13 km shorter and will have several emergency facilities and automatic tolls.
